La photo sur laquelle je me suis basé a fait le tour du monde, et est l’œuvre du fabuleux photographe Steve Mc Curry . La photo a été prise en 1985, a Peshawar au Pakistan, dans ce que l’on appele la « zône tribale », à cette époque des milliers d’Afghans affluaient dans les camps de réfugiés suite a la guerre contre les soviétiques qui faisait rage . La jeune Afghane a été retrouvé en 2002, ne sachant pas bien sur , que son visage avait fait le tour du monde ….
Le défis était grand, car il n’est pas facile de sculpter avec ressemblance une personne, et encore moins quand on n’a qu’un seul angle de vue …. Les couleurs et les yeux de cette fillette étant le point central de la photo, je pense que le projet ne peut véritablement être accomplie qu’à la fin de la peinture …
Là encore ce projet m’a tenu et me tient à cœur comme lors de la réalisation du buste de Massoud.
